The Cheese School of San Francisco is the only independent institution of its kind in the nation dedicated entirely to helping people maximize their enjoyment and appreciation of cheese. In order to bring the best quality experience to our students, we require the help of very talented and very dedicated people.

The Cheese School offers the following opportunities to interns and class assistants:

  • Learn about cheese service in all its aspects
  • Learn how to cut, plate, and serve cheese for both individual and group service
  • Learn how to care for cheeses of all types
  • Learn pairing techniques and explore pairing ideas
  • Taste over 100 cheeses and 40 wines and beers

Responsibilities and requirements include:

  • Help with set-up and clean-up before and after class
  • Ensure that classes run smoothly and students are comfortable
  • 15 hours of work each week made up of two or three 5-7 hour shifts each week. All shifts begin between 2-4pm.
  • Three month commitment.
  • All interns and class assistant must be at least 21 years old.

Interns must receive credit from an educational institution for their work at The Cheese School. Interns are paid a monthly stipend and able to take free classes for up to one year from their internship start date.

Candidates who are not currently enrolled in an educational program should consider applying for the Class Assistant Program. Class assistants are paid San Francisco minimum wage and receive free classes during their three month program. PLEASE NOTE: we are not actively hiring class assistants at this time.

We look for applicants with a strong desire to learn more about artisan cheese and food. Those already in the food industry will be given particular consideration. If you are interested in working at The Cheese School as an intern or class assistant, email us at for an application form.
