General Manager - Job Description

Classes and events are designed to be fun, informative and most of all, delicious. General Manager The General Manager plays key roles in the day to day operations and long term visioning of The Cheese School. It’s a position that requires strategic, forward thinking, and a desire to consistently better processes, combined with attention to detail that gets day to day work done. The manager oversees daily customer facing experiences and is responsible for hiring the best people to maintain the standards and values of The Cheese School experience. They work closely with kitchen, event, and management staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead large private events and occasionally classes
  • Uphold existing policies and standard operating procedures, enhance training documents
  • Create staff schedule
  • Conduct weekly and monthly inventory
  • Oversee hiring process for on-call catering staff and class assistants
  • Onboard front of house new hires
  • Lead and participate in direct report reviews
  • Run payroll
  • Ensure all employment laws are posted and followed
  • Work with individual employees on professional development and growth
  • Research and recommend applicable educational opportunities for direct reports
  • Create and promote collaborative and harmonious work environment while encouraging staff participation in TCS growth and performance goals

OTHER DUTIES

  • Maintain kitchen and event space
  • Active participant of management team
  • With assistance of bookkeeper, review and analyze departmental growth (retail, classes, events)
  • Attend events to stay current on trends within industry (2-3 times a year)
  • Create and/or identify potential community partnerships

REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of experience as an Assistant or General Manger in a high paced industry, ideally food preferred
  • Strong organizational & communication skills
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job

SALARY & BENEFITS

The position is a full time salaried position at $48,000 with health benefits and also bonuses when goals are met.
